About Mangawhai Heads Surf School
Sharing the epic adventure of surfing in New Zealand for 30 years!
Mangawhai Heads Surf School runs daily lessons catered for most age groups from beginner to intermediate level. You don’t need experience to learn to surf nor do you need to be able to swim. Jump in with our beginners lessons where you’ll start off in waist-deep water.
If you’ve had lessons before and want to improve your skills – we recommend surfing with our instructors to progress further. Our instructors work right in the water with you at all times, giving you valuable advice and tips. You will be learning to surf in conditions that suit your ability. Our lessons are also all about enjoying the experience!
All lessons take two hours with a qualified instructor. Boards and wetsuits are included. The beach offers good parking (50m from our base), toilets, showers and changing facilities.
